If you’ve even been a casual fan of Veggie Tales, you may be familiar with their popular 1995 episode titled “Rack, Shack, and Benny”, a retelling of the Bible story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from Daniel 3:16-28.

In the episode, Rack, Shack and Benny work for a factory creating chocolate bunnies when their boss, Mr. Nezzer tells them they must bow to a 90 foot statue of the bunny, and sing a song to show that they love the bunny above all else.

When Mr. Nezzer sings the song for them, here it is with it’s original lyrics:

The original lyrics go as follows:

The bunny, the bunny
Whoa, I love the bunny
I don’t love my mom or my dad,
Just the bunny

I won’t go to church,

And I won’t go to school

That stuff is for sissies,

But bunnies are cool

According to a Veggie Tales fandom site:

A few weeks after Rack, Shack and Benny was released, parents began sending in letters to Big Idea, complaining that their kids were singing “I don’t love my mom or my dad, just the bunny”, and “I won’t go to church, and I won’t go to school”. Vischer and Big Idea were disappointed that none of the children watching it, were understanding the concept of the song, that you are not supposed to sing it, but originally refused to change the lyrics. What the parents, who complained about it. Instead Vischer tried to redeem the company’s image by coming up with the New and Improved Bunny Song in Very Silly Songs!, so that kids would understand to not sing the original version. However, the kids still failed to do so, and, as a result, when Big Idea partnered with Lyrick Studios in 1998, they rewrote the episode to include the new version of the Bunny Song with the modern lyrics. Vischer only ended up getting more letters from fans, now complaining that they liked the original version best.

The new lyrics, which focused more on healthy eating and less on hating your parents go like this:

The bunny, the bunny
Whoa, I love the bunny
I don’t love my soup or my bread,
Just the bunny

I won’t eat no beans,
And I won’t eat tofu
That stuff is for sissies,
But bunnies are cool

Now, as if that wasn’t enough, the song also created controversy because parents compared the ending of the sing with singing female asparagus too similar to burlesque songs.
